Super Mario the movie, new challenge for the most famous plumber in the world

Probably one of the most famous characters in video games, with such popularity that it is also attractive for other platforms, such as cinema, with the imminent release of Super Mario the film, the cinematic transposition of the adventures of the most famous plumber in the world.

A fame that comes from almost forty years of history and adventures for the character created by Nintendo in 1985.

Super Mario, the story

Super Mario is an imaginary "character" created by the Japanese software house and game producer Nintendo.

Super Mario made his debut in the world of video games in 1985, when the first version of the world's most famous plumber's game was released for the proprietary console NES (Nintendo Entertainment System).

Right from the start the theme of the game is clear and well defined, with the plumber Mario who must save Princess Peach from the evil Bowser.

A resounding success, for a character and related game that for many has become the symbol of video games, together with his brother Luigi, the various villains and the "gone bad" mushrooms, true allies and soldiers of the evil ones.

The original game in fact quickly became the source of spin-offs, sequels and prequels, including Super Mario Bros. 2, Super Mario Bros. 3, Super Mario World, Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Galaxy.

The game's original theme has since been used in countless variations, with Mario making his starring debut in many other game categories. We can in fact find it, among other things, in Mario Kart, Mario Party and Mario Sports. But not only that, the most famous plumber in the world has also become the protagonist of a role-playing game (Mario & Luigi). In his adventures Mario has traveled through various worlds, inspired by reality and the imagination of programmers, among the most famous we can find the Mushroom Kingdom, the Kingdom of Heaven and the Kingdom of Water.

Evolving over time, Super Mario has also adapted to new technologies and consoles, even being created for the most modern consoles, such as Wii and Nintendo Switch.

Super Mario the movie

The film is obviously the adaptation of the famous Super Mario video game series produced by Nintendo. In the cinematographic film, made in "animation" style, the story of Mario is told, a plumber who together with the scary (at least at first impression) Luigi decides to embark on a journey to face the adventure of a lifetime.

The aim of this mission is to overcome an underground labyrinth full of dangers, closed roads and other obstacles, the objective is the same as in the various versions of the game, to bring Princess Peach to safety.

The expected release date of the film in the Italian market is April 5, 2023.

There is already a lot of anticipation about the film, also thanks to clever marketing work carried out through previews, the release of small trailers and the appearance of spoilers (intentional or otherwise).

Bringing further attention to the film we then find a stellar cast of voice actors, which in the American version includes Chris Pratt, Jack Black and Seth Rogan among others.

Also for the Italian version we are expecting important names in terms of dubbing, with at the moment the name of the only actor Claudio Santamaria in the role of the protagonist, the plumber Mario.

Sometimes they come back

The upcoming Super Mario movie isn't a first for the world's most famous plumber on the big screen. Exactly thirty years ago an animated film based on the Super Mario character called “Super Mario Bros.” was produced and released. The film obviously tells the adventures of Mario and Luigi and presents a transposition with real actors.

The old film did not achieve much success and was actually somewhat criticized mainly for the lack of a real plot and fidelity compared to that of the original game. Despite everything, the result at the box office wasn't that bad, especially thanks to the Super Mario fans, who couldn't resist and went to see it, despite the criticism from critics, professionals and spectators.

What to expect from Super Mario the movie

We are certain that the new film will achieve a very different result compared to the first attempt. Different technologies, high expectations and equally large investments lead us to believe that the Super Mario film will be a global success.

In the same we will find all the characters who have made the history of this title, for a moment that will act as a "reminder" for older players and a tasty anticipation for younger ones.

Much anticipation even more stimulated and teased by the short teasers released by the producers. For example, through the same, fans were able to discover and appreciate the presence of Donkey Kong among the Super Mario antagonists. In the released trailer we can in fact appreciate the moment of the meeting between these two gaming icons. In the short sequence released, we see the protagonist of the game enter a packed arena amidst the cheers of the fans. Waiting for him at the center of it is Donkey Kong.
