AMD Radeon RX 6600 the new video card for FullHD gaming
After a long wait, the latest entry-level video card from AMD Radeon is finally available, the RX 6600 model
Similar to its bigger sister, the RX 6600 XT released in August, this new 6000 series GPU has everything it takes to offer a truly captivating full HD gaming experience.
Let's start with the technical aspect, the architecture of the RX 6600 is based on 7 nm RDNA 2 with a reduced version of the Navi 23 chip. The GPU is released with the following features: 8 GB of DDR6 RAM, more than enough to play in full HD at 1080p, and a clock speed of up to 2491 MHz in boost.
The RX 6600 is in all respects the direct rival of Nvidia's RTX 3060 , not only for its technical characteristics and release date, but also for its selling price. In fact, both video cards are listed for $329 on the international market, a figure that makes many turn up their noses a bit. In Italy there is no official price yet and, given the circumstances, we can only hope that it will be affordable.
The continuous requests for high-performance hardware from those interested in mining activities, a growing phenomenon, which makes GPUs practically unobtainable, are causing prices to rise.
However, the duel between medium-low range GPUs sees the RTX 3060 in the lead, but only with regard to some games such as Cyberpunk 2077 , while for titles such as Battlefield 5 or Hitman , the result is almost equal. Thanks to FidelityFX Super Resolution (FSR) technology, the RX 6600 allows you to play titles such as Far Cry 6 at 1440p. However, this workaround is not available for all games, only some titles, including Deathloop , Resident Evil Village , and Marvel's Avengers , for example, support FSR.
In addition to FidelityFx, the latest innovations introduced by AMD Radeon for its new video cards include: ray tracing , infinity cache (32 MB) and Smart Access Memory , all qualities that our RX possesses.
AMD Radeon's ace in the hole is undoubtedly the versatility of its latest product: the RX 6600 can in fact be installed on configurations that use 450 watt power supplies . It seems almost impossible that a latest generation video card has such low energy consumption , however, on GPUs like the "Sapphire Pulse" the recommended power supply seems to be 500 watts.
This point in favor of AMD compared to all other GPUs on the market is not trivial and could lead a good portion of users to tip the scales towards RX rather than towards Nvidia.
Those who want to buy a new video card and don't intend to overturn the existing configuration inside their gaming computer will find it difficult to resist the charm of this GPU.
All that remains is to wait for the arrival of the RX 6600 in our country, hoping that the price of this new entry-level video card is truly accessible.
