IPTV risks. Clutched to the piece, the risks of a pirated service
A very varied world full of offers, IPTV (also known as Web TV ) is a rapidly expanding market also on Italian soil. There are many proposals, for packages that really appeal to enthusiasts. The problem, as always, is the subscription cost, an amount that is not exactly cheap and which pushes many users to evaluate the subscription option. Illegal solution, which brings IPTV risks directly into our homes…
Let's find out what IPTV is and what the possible risks of this system are
Important premise; a legal and certified IPTV service, used via a secure connection and a subscription, excludes 99.9% of the risks. Obviously it has a cost, but this should not be a problem, since on the other hand we get a service for the same.
If, however, our intention is to save on a subscription or access channels normally not permitted or not active on the classic platforms, the solution (which we do not recommend) is that of the piece, an illegal system but widely used in our country.
Are almost the risks IPTV illegal?
We have identified five types of risks caused by the use of the "pezzotto".
They range from operational risks to legal risks, for a range of dangers that should lead anyone to avoid installing the piece.
Here they are:
Malware viruses
Using the piece means abandoning the known and controlled, to enter the world of the illegal. This means a lack of rules and controls, with the risk of downloading not the film or TV series you want but some virus or malware.
Running this malicious software can pose risks to your devices, data and finances.
The risk of contracting a virus exists even in verified connections, let alone what can be found in illegal and clandestine connections.
Online scams
The piece is not free. In addition to the purchase cost of this hardware, there is a subscription to consider, usually monthly or every 30 days. This subscription is paid in the most disparate ways but practically always via an online system (PostePay, PayPal etc.). The money is sent to fictitious and untraceable accounts. The transaction could go well or it could be rejected keeping the money or worse still the payment details could be made for scams or fraud. It is therefore necessary to be very careful at this stage.
The monthly savings obtainable through an illegal solution could turn against the user with significant economic consequences.
Poor video quality
The video quality of some illegal IPTV services may be lower than official services. This is due to the poor quality of the streams used or technical problems. This can make watching content annoying and unsatisfying.
Is it really worth spending less to end up with a low quality product? Sure, a little is better than nothing, but sometimes a flawed viewing can be more frustrating than knowing from the start that we won't be able to see the event in question.
Service interruption
Everything is ready for the start of the game and the operator decides to update the frequencies, causing those with illegal systems to lose their vision. The latter then have to wait for a new file or code that may arrive a few minutes later or may never arrive. Definitely not a pleasant situation, especially if the event we want to see is very interesting for us and perhaps we want to see it with guests.
Legal consequences
If the two previous problems are only operational and all things considered bypassable, you can't mess with justice. Using the piece can lead to fines and legal proceedings. Of course, to date, justice has focused on those who provide the service, but it cannot be denied that even those who use it are not participants in this illegal act...
In general, it is important to only use legal and trustworthy IPTV services to avoid these risks and ensure the safety of your devices and personal information.
But, what is the piece?
The term “pezzotto” is jargon commonly used to describe a hardware module that is installed on a device to decode and access pay television content or encrypted television channels. These modules are often used to access illegal IPTV services or copyrighted content.
It is usually a set box that runs on the Android operating system and can allow its user to see the entire range of paid services such as Sky, Dazn, Prime Video, Disney + and many others for a few euros.
The piece is basically a decoder that uses the IPTV system (internet television broadcasting) to send these broadcasts to user devices.
The piece usually works and only when some essential elements are present:
IPTV risks with piece
Obviously the greatest risks are for the operators of illicit platforms. Both because they are the ones who "set the tone" for the system, and because they make professional use of it, which can lead to revenues in the order of hundreds of thousands of euros every month. Totally illegal money, untraced and on which no taxes are paid and which could therefore be used to finance further illegal activities.
However, the risk is also for the individual user, who, to save money or as an act of rebellion against a certain entity, decides to use a small fee to take advantage of paid broadcasts.
The user who purchases legal subscriptions can in fact be investigated for the crime of receiving stolen goods. Not a small charge, given that it can lead to up to 8 years in prison and a fine of €25,000.
Maximum values that are difficult to reach for the individual user, but consequences that should still give pause to those who choose the path of illegality and complicity to save a few euros a month.
IPTV (or web TV) is a very effective technology that can contribute to the multiplication of TV channels and reduce the digital divide also in our peninsula, but it must be used "well", with the awareness that incorrect and illegal use can lead to important consequences.
